Ozone Therapy

Ozone is a natural form of oxygen that has many health benefits. It is not a pollutant, as some people may think. It can help treat various conditions and prevent infections.

WHAT IS OZONE?

Ozone is a gas that contains three oxygen atoms. It can replace harmful chemicals and procedures in some cases.

It can destroy bacteria and fungi that cause diseases. It can enhance blood circulation. It can boost the immune system. It can accelerate wound healing and reduce the risk of complications after surgery.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We use a special device that produces ozone from medical oxygen. We make custom trays that fit your teeth and gums. You wear the upper tray and connect it to the device for about 10-12 minutes. Then you do the same with the lower tray. The whole process takes about half an hour.

You can reuse your trays and we will store them in our office. You don’t need to make new impressions every time.

WHEN DO WE USE OZONE?

Ozone is a powerful disinfectant that kills bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It has no harmful side effects, as it breaks down into oxygen and water.

We use ozone in different forms to treat various dental conditions, such as:

  • Cavitations: These are areas of dead bone that can harbor infection. We use ozone gas and saline solution to sterilize them and promote healing.

  • Gum Disease: This is caused by harmful microbes that damage the gums and teeth. We use ozone gas and water to eliminate them and prevent further damage. As part of our comprehensive dental care. Dr. Lindsey may recommend ozone therapy along with teeth cleaning, to help you achieve optimal oral health.

  • Tooth Decay: This is caused by acid-producing bacteria that erode the enamel and dentin. We use ozone gas and water to remove them and protect the tooth. If the decay is shallow, we may not need to place a filling at all. Ozone also reduces tooth sensitivity and improves the success rate of fillings. We use ozone for children’s teeth before we seal them, to prevent decay and strengthen the enamel.

  • TMJ: This is a disorder of the jaw joint that can cause pain and dysfunction. We use ozone gas to reduce inflammation and improve joint mobility.

  • Oral Hygiene: We recommend using ozonated water as a mouthwash to maintain a healthy oral flora and prevent bad breath.

  • Mouth Sores: We suggest using ozonated olive oil as a topical treatment for sores and infections in the mouth, such as cold sores and canker sores.

  • Root Canals: We do not advise having root canals, as they can compromise your overall health. However, if you choose to have one, we will use ozone to disinfect the canal and reduce the risk of complications.
  • We use ozone for every tooth that we restore or crown, to ensure a clean and durable result.
